Most leaders devote a lot of time seeking ways to improve teamwork and boost productivity. Yet many leaders report disappointing results. This is often because they don't recognize the close relationship between team chemistry or compatibility, and productivity. The key to a successful team is how well it deals with conflict. Healthy teams are resilient in the face of disagreements and work through them. Under-performing teams almost always suffer from an inability to deal with disagreement. Building strong relationships within a team is more important to its success than having a common goal. These solid, respectful relationships are a central underpinning of high-performance teams.
