Performance of Ricebean (Vigna umbellata) Varieties in The High Altitude Area of Visakhapatnam District in Andhra Pradesh

Ricebean (Vigna umbellata) is a climbing annual herb, locally known as Timmerlu or Katingulu in the agency areas of Visakhapatnam district. In India it is found in both wild as well as cultivated form from lower altitude to temperate Himalayas including North East hills upto an elevation of 2000 m above sea level. It has also been found in Central China through Malaysia. It is believed to have originated in South and East Asia. It is sown as kharifcrop being sown during May-June and harvested duringNovember and December.
