Enhancement of Critical Parameters of Natural Ester Liquids Using SiO2 Insulating Nanoparticle

2 nanoparticle, which is named as Alternative Insulating Fluid (AIF). In order to prepare those natural ester liquids forindustrial testing, the natural ester liquids are filtered using membrane filter and heated to 100 °C to remove the presence of moisture in it. In this work, different proportions (0.05 g/L and 0.1 g/L) of SiO2 nanoparticle of size 10–12 nm and density of 2.27 g/cm3were added to natural ester liquids to prepare the nanofluids. The critical characteristics like breakdown voltage, impulse breakdown voltage, viscosity, flash and fire point, dissipation factor, dielectric constant, volume resistivity, acidity and iodine value were measured according to IECand ASTM standards before and after adding nanoparticle. Interestingly it is found that the critical parameters of nanofluids are improved and can be used as a substitute to traditionally used transformer insulating fluid.]]>
