Pig iron prices roll back to year start level

Merchant pig iron quotations in main outlets have dropped by $2-5/t in mid- May. In the USA and the EU, import pig iron was quoted at $540-560/t C&F, in the SE Asian countries . at $515-520/t C&F. In May, a price increase was observed in pig iron importing countries. In the US market, on the contrary, demand and prices for long and flat products began tumbling down after a long-lasting increase, finished steel products having come down in price by $20-25/t by mid-May.
