What is a DMC21x3 should be covered first. It is a very Intelligent Motion Controller. If you read Part Two you know that the LM628/629 is intelligent, that is, it is a digital controller. But, the DMC21x3 isn't an IC, rather it's a circuit board with many ICs, some of them proprietary. The DMC21x3 is a generation or two more advanced, therefore it has many more features. Also, because it's newer it's faster; servo loop update time for one to two axes is 250 μs for a standard part and 125 μs for a "fast" part.
