A New Graphomya Species from Indonesia (Diptera: Muscidae)

A new species, Graphomya wallacea described and figured from Sulawesi and Ceram Islands in Indonesia. New species is characterized by hemisphere like lower squama in male.Eleven species belonging to the genus Graphomya Robineau-Desvoidy have been recorded from Oriental region. Among them, nine species are distributed in Indonesia (Pont, 1977). Stein (1909, 1919) described five species from Indonesian Islands, Sumatra, Java, Celebes and Ceram. These type specimens are preserved in University Museum of Amsterdum. I studied all type materials. I regret that I had not recorded morphological features in detail. Dr. Pont, Oxford University, also have studied those types and described features in detail. I sent the specimens, which were collected in Sulawesi and Ceram and could not be asighned to any known species, to him for asking his opinion. According to his notes on Stein's types, this species did not conform to the known species. In the present paper, I describe and figure the species as a new species.
