China to Build 14,000 Cold Chain Logistics Facilities

In December 2020, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MOA) stated that, in order to strengthen the construction of modern agricultural infrastructure, the central government had allocated RMB 5 billion (US$ 766 million)in 2020. This fund allowed the construction of cold chain logistics facilities for the storage and preservation of agricultural products. The project was projected to have benefitted more than 9,000 new agricultural business entities and newly constructed or rebuilt 14,000 storage and preservation cold chain logistics facilities, with a scale of more than 6 million tons. The next steps include the formation of a 'production+storage+preservation+sales' model, creating a scale-driven effect.
