Introduction: The mechanisms underlying functional disorders in the central nervous system (CNS) caused by mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) require intensive research. In 10--25% of mTBI patients, post-concussion symptoms persist over several month, impairing the quality of life. The balance between major neurotransmitters (excitatory - glutamate (Glu), and inhibitory - c-aminobutyric acid, GABA), is crucial for the normal functioning of CNS. In this study, [GABA] and Glu are measured in the posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) of children with acute mTBI.
