Introduction: Quantification of regional myocardial function is a valuable non-invasive tool for the risk assessment of patients with myocardial infarction (MI) [1]. Myocardial deformation mechanisms, including regional strain and rotation, have been introduced as clinical markers of myocardial function and can be assessed by tagged MR imaging [2]. The aim of this study is to determine LV deformation parameters at different distances from MI by the combination of tagged MRI and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) images in order to assess function in the infarcted ventricle and its border zones.
