Introduction: Multi-shot EPI allows reaching a higher resolution than single-shot EPI but makes the scan sensitive to phase fluctuations, limiting their utility in applications where such fluctuations are significant (1). Phaseless encoding is a recently proposed solution which only requires the magnitude of the images and discards the phase error. The utility of the method has already been demonstrated for 3 Tesla scanners and applied to diffusion experiments (2, 3). The aim of this work is to adapt phaseless encoding to gradient echo imaging at long echo time in a high magnetic field-typically required for fMRI.
