Introduction: In recent years there has been renewed interest in low field MRI systems [1-5] as a means of providing access to MR technology in regions where current clinical systems are not available. While low field MRI suffers from a reduced signal-to-noise ratio compared to high field systems, diagnostically useful images can still be acquired, especially when looking at conditions that cause large structural changes in the brain such as hydrocephalus. In this work we show images of the adult brain acquired in a custom-built, 50 mT Halbach-based MRI scanner at a 2 9 2 9 4 mm resolution in 10 min.
