Inline inspection (ILI) is a common practice used throughout the oil and gas industry For inspecting and evaluating the structural integrity of extensive pipelines to detect defects such as corrosion, cracks and deformation. To date, the main inspection methods employed in ILI pigs are based on the principles of ultrasound and magnetic flux leakage (MFL) which have certain inspection limitations, especially with newer types of pipeline.
