Time to Harness the Power of Information

THERE HAS NEVER BEEN MOREinformation available so readily tooperators in the fruit industry. Yet firms still struggle to use that information to improve decisions. Most firms need to radically change their approach to information analysis, both for the deluge of information now available from the outside world, and for that generated by their own activities.External information presents special problems. For example, today I ran a Google search on the phrase "healthy food", and got 66.4 million hits. Spending just 5 fivein orchards, flumes and drenches in packing houses, and temperature, atmosphere and fruit quality controls in storage.
