OEMs and 'PIK' scientists offer roadmap and policy advice (conditions) to governments to achieve fossil-free road transport over the next two decades. Belgium - December 2020 saw all of Europe's leading truck builders commit to making all trucks fossil free by 2040. In a joint statement, released by the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), Europe's truck manufacturers have concluded that by 2040 all new trucks sold need to be fossil free to reach carbon-neutrality by 2050. The OEMs stated it would only be possible to meet this target provided the right charging/refuelling infrastructure is built and a coherent policy framework is put into place, including comprehensive CO_2 pricing to drive the transition.
