BIZ: Sustainability LEGAL: Regulation: Supreme Court allows registration of BS IV vehicles sold before lockdown

New Delhi - The Supreme Court (SC), which is located in the City of Delhi, on August 13, 2020 confirmed that all BS IV emissions-compliant vehicles sold, but not registered, on or before the official lockdown date of March 25, 2020, could now be registered on the Ministry of Road Transport & Highway e-Vahan1 government portal or website. This court judgement was viewed by many stakeholders - dealers, OEMs, and end-users - as being much of a relief, as these vehicles had been waiting registration for more than six months. However, should the complete details of any eligible vehicle not be uploaded on the official government website - ie the e-Vahan portal - it still will not gain registration certification.
