BIZ: Sustainability/Aftermarket LEGAL: Regulation/Emissions: Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate now mandatory to renew motor insurance

New Delhi - The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has issued a new circular making it compulsory for all insurance providers of motor vehicles in India to only renew insurance of vehicles showing an active Pollution Under Control (PUC)1 certificate from a recognised and government-approved emission centre. Prior to this regulation, insurance could be renewed without registering a PUC through e-port/e-Vahan.
