What is research telling us around schemes to reduce car dominance and what else do we need to know ask Ersilia Verlinghieri, Anna Goodman, Anthony Laverty, Irena Itova and Rachel Aldred. Introduction: Low Traffic Neighbourhoods have been increasingly prominent in public debate and on our streets, with over 70 introduced in London alone in six months last year. LTNs consist primarily of a series of 'modal filters' which close off residential streets to through motor traffic. In the context of Covid they have been used to provide more safe space for physical distancing and increase the quality of near home public realm.
