Call for turnaround in rural bus offer

Government's plans for a 'bus revolution are significantly under resourced and promised funding should increase fivefold to deliver the service levels needed to support modal shift in rural areas, according to a countryside charity. A "vicious downward spiral" in rural public transport provision over many years has led to a situation where "the countryside is now riddled with fast roads, pollution and congestion", the Campaign to Protect Rural England's chief executive Crispin Truman told TP.
