Call to better integrate transport with planning

Proposed revisions to the Government's National Planning Policy Framework and its new draft National Model Design Code must go further to improve the integration of planning and transport, CIHT has urged in a consultation response. The Institution has called for Manual for Streets - which is currently going through a revision - to be made Government policy. "This would enable local authorities, developers, the Planning Inspectorate and professionals engaged in developing better places to have the confidence to utilise this guidance," said Director of Policy & Technical Affairs, Andrew Hugill.
