CHARTERED SURVEYOR SAPPER CLUB

Sir, - I write to inform readers that, with sadness, the Chartered Surveyor Sapper Club has now been closed due to the simple fact that the number of members had fallen to below the number for the Club to be viable. Our last meeting was a luncheon at the RAG on 5 November 2019 and this letter is to place on the record and in the Corps History the work of our Club over these past thirty-three years. The Club was formed in 1987 at the bicentenary of the title Royal Engineers to further the interest in the Corps and the Royal Engineers Museum by Chartered Surveyors, who have served or who are serving in the Corps of Royal Engineers. The founding meeting was at Richard Ellis's Office, organised by Sir Idris Pearce and Professor Alan Gillet. Later the RE Surveyors of Works Club joined us in 1999.
