A second British locality for Brachygluta simplicior Raffray (Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae)

Brachygluta simplicior Raffray was originally described by Raffray (1904) from 'Biscaye' as a variety of B. haematica (Reichenbach). Besuchet (1963) treated simplicior as a subspecies of B. haematica and provided the first British record: a male from Harwich, Essex. This record was first noted in the British literature by Pearce (1974). The Harwich specimen is in the Natural History Museum (NHM), London, having come from the G. Bryant collection (BM 1926 - 86). It was determined by Claude Besuchet in February 1963 and was re-examined by the author in 2015.
