Irrigation water for potato production is declining in most potato-producing regions. Drip irrigation has proven to be an alternative for reduced irrigation water use and the sustainability of potato production. Subsurface drip irrigation can substantially reduce the amount of irrigation water needed to produce a potato crop. However, tuber yield and quality need to be improved to make potato production under subsurface drip irrigation more cost-effective.
