On August 6, 2020 Jefo's Vice President for Research & Development, Dr Elizabeth Santin and Professor Marc-Andre Selosse, contucted a webinar 'Microbiota, holobiont and symbiosis'.Pork Journal first met Dr Elizabeth Santin at a Jefo seminar held in Quebec in September 2018. 'I see inside ' was her subject in relation to gut mucosa.As animal health and human science recognises the importance of the gut and its microbiome, holobiont is a further concept in understanding functions of human and animal health.A holobiont is an assemblage of a host and the many other species living in or around it, which together form a discrete ecological unit.
