Vegetative phenology of 24 clones of Teak derived from three provenances was studied in a 19-year old Clonal Seed Orchard (CSO) grown in Karnataka, Southern India. Statistically significant differences were found among clones for three vegetative phenophases viz leaf flushing, leaf shedding initiation and duration of leaf expansion. Strong influences of provenances were observed for time of leaf flushing and duration of leaf expansion. Clones derived from northern provenances of Karnataka initiated their leaves late in the season, however possessed lesser duration of leaf expansion compared to those from Central and Southern provenances, Heritability estimates on individual tree basis suggested that only leaf flushing initiation was least affected by environment (h~2=0.63) The duration of leaflessness did not significantly vary among the clones. The duration of leafless was longer in clones MyHuT4, MyHuT7, MyBL1, MyHaV3, MyHaD1, MyHaD3 and MyHaD4, Interestingly, clones that initiated leaf flush early, tend to produce higher number of fruits as suggested by their positive and significant co-efficient of correlation (r=0.099).
