Trend: All prices climb / One record after another

Up, up and up again. For several months, prices of standard thermoplastics have been moving in only one direction, with one record following the next, and the surge will continue in May. With polyolefins and PVC notations have long become decoupled from feedstocks, and producers are more or less able to dictate prices. Meanwhile, PS and EPS prices are following the styrene cost very closely, but since notations here too are racing from one record to the next, the scope for any margin improvements by producers has become very limited.
