Asia-Pacific metallurgical coal prices have drifted down in July due to bearish sentiment with Chinese mills only tempted to buy when prices were low. The situation was not helped by a tightening of portrelated restrictions, and expectations of a limited quota left for the fourth quarter. S&P Global Platts assessed Premium Low-Vol HCC at $184/mt FOB Australia mid-July, down $5.50/mt or by 3% from the previous week. Delivered prices to China were down $3.50/mt, or by 2%, to $191.50/ mt CFR China.
