Iron ore futures recovered value in the week starting Monday, August 19, after a weak start, while coking coal derivatives continued to see weakness in the nearby months. Iron ore futures traded lower at the start of the week, to bounce back strongly Thursday and Friday, with the forward curve up almost at unchanged levels from the previous week on Friday afternoon Singapore time. The coking coal market, however, continued to drift lower, steepening the contango in the forward curve.
