Australia lifts forecasts for iron ore, met coal exports as China's appetite wanes

The Australian government has upwardly revised its forecasts for the country's iron ore and metallurgical coal export volumes for the current year while concerns about China's appetite for the commodities over the next couple of years remain. The Department of Industry said in its Resources and Energy Quarterly for JulySeptember it expects 828 million mt of iron ore to be exported from Australia in 2019 and 185 million mt of metallurgical coal. That's an additional 14 million mt of iron ore and 4 million mt of metallurgical coal than what it was expecting in the June edition of the report.
