Five key themes from the 2018 Dalian CISA Conference

The 18th China International Steel & Raw Materials Conference was held in the city of Dalian in mid-September, and like its predecessors contained a lot of high-level talks, gossip and market engagement. While the registered delegates numbered approximately 500, there were more than 1,000 people in and around the conference venue. These included government associations, steel mills, iron ore producers, traders big and small, brokers, shippers, analysts and financial institutions. Much of the discussion centered upon the outlook for global iron ore and the potential impacts of China's "blue-sky" policy.
