Holenarasipur Yoganarasimham Mohan Ram: Some Celebratory Reminiscences

When I first learned from India via two successive emails of Professor H.Y. Mohan Ram's death, a host of memories raced through my head. I had known him and his wife Manasi since the autumn of 1959. Significantly, we shared a common and substantial scientific genealogy. He was a post-doctoral fellow with F.C. Steward, FRS at Cornell University when I was a beginning doctoral student. We were part of a now much depleted scientific family so to say. There was no hint then, of course, that I should be participating in the writing of one of the many appreciations that his passing would engender or inspire.
