Impact of age and marital status on adoption pattern as per type of activity pursued by the women beneficiaries of I. T. I. and S. G. S. Y.

This study was carried out in Dehradun district, Uttarakhand, India. The aim of the study was to determine the impact of age and marital status on adoption pattern as per type of income-generating activity pursued by the women beneficiaries of the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Swarn Jayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY). The study revealed that majority of the beneficiaries of ITI were younger, unmarried women who adopted professional fields like tailoring, stenography, electronics, embroidery, radio and TV repair and drafting for income generation. On the other hand, most of the beneficiaries of SGSY were elderly married women. They supplemented their income through traditional activities like dairy farming, poultry farming, masala making, agarbatti making, lampshade making, pickle making, squash making, vegetable growing, goat rearing and weaving.
