Upstream frms step up emission cut messaging

Higher oil and gas prices this year have done little to stop upstream independents operating in northwest Europe from paying increasing attention to how they pitch themselves to the investor community in light of the energy transition. The price rise has given the companies an opportunity to strengthen their balance sheets after a difcult year. And their cash infows, production levels and speed of deleveraging remain the main points of investor focus at this stage. But the companies have stepped up their energy transition messaging as government and societal pressures grow, and they seem keen to appeal to more climate-aware investors and buyers.
