Disorderly transition looms over Biden presidency

A violent assault on the US Congress’ Capitol complex by supporters of Donald Trump on 6 January failed to prevent the end of his presidency. But the damage to the US’ international reputation will loom over president- elect Joe Biden’s administration, even though he may beneft from discord among the Republicans exposed by the nihilism of the Trump wing of the party.
