Naftogaz seeks partners to save gas transit

Ukraine is discussing modernising its gas pipeline system with four "big" European firms in an attempt to ensure Russian transit flows to Europe after 2019. Two that have expressed interest already own and operate big European gas networks, state-owned Naftogaz chief executive Andriy Kobolev says. Ukraine needs backing from European firms to secure Russian transit following the expiry of Naftogaz's contract with Russia's state-controlled Gazprom at the end of 2019. There will be no gas transit without a large European partner, Kobolev says.
