BP takes further spill charge

BP expects to take a $1.7bn post-tax non-operating charge in its fourth-quarter 2017 results related to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the US Gulf, adding to $63.4bn of pre-tax charges booked since the incident. BP anticipates cash payments related to the spill will increase to $3bn this year from an earlier estimate of just over $2bn.
