Nigeria's Senate has advanced a number of pieces of planned legislation that would reform the country's oil and natural gas sector. Senators passed the petroleum industry fiscal bill (PIFB), the petroleum host community bill (PHCB) and the petroleum industry administration bill at a second reading last month. They will vote on the legislation in September, after revisions. The chamber approved the petroleum industry governance bill, which would overhaul state-owned oil company NNPC and result in the formation of new regulatory bodies, in May.
