Crude prices fall as supply fears persist

Crude prices weakened, as growing global production and concerns about Opec and non-Opec compliance with production cuts offset a drop in US inventories. Atlantic basin benchmark North Sea Dated fell by $2.17/bl to $50.16/bl in the week to 17 August. Mideast Gulf marker Dubai was down by $2.24/bl at $48.84/bl, and US benchmark September WTI dropped by $1.50/bl to $47.09/bl.
