This experiment was conducted to determine the optimum size of stolon cuttings (for direct field planting) and appropriate rooting media (for raising rooted cuttings in nursery) of Picrorhiza kurroa. Amongst four different sizes and two planting methods tested, erect planted cuttings of 7.5 & 10.0 cm length gave maximum field survival (60.56 and 68.01 %) and higher dry rootstock yield (7.31 & 7.90 g) after three years of field growth.
