Jason Vallint (JV): From a transport perspective these are cities designed to embrace existing technology to manage and enable mobility, which integrate services between businesses, households and public sector or utility services. In the transport world. Smart Cities are ones where you see high levels of transport and intermodal integration facilitated by technology. The UK government launched the Future Cities Catapult and Demonstrator programme to help draw local authorities' attention to the potential use of the technology. Some of which has been embraced through smart ticketing solutions for public transport and Low Emissions Zones to manage urban freight. AIG is actively engaged with the City of Atlanta in the US through its Together for Safer Roads initiative. Through data analytics and cooperative working relationships with numerous private and public sector organisations, AIG is helping identify ways of improving road safety for Atlanta's Smart Corridor by using data gathered from smart devices across the city.
