摘要

Humboldtia bourdillonii Prain (Fabaceae : Caesalpinioideae), a critically endangered tree, endemic to Southern Western Ghats, India, has been investigated for developing macro propagation techniques through stem cuttings and air layering methods withthe aid of auxins. The young stands below five year old have resulted a maximum stem rooting of 80% in the nursery conditions and air layering success of 70% in its natural habitats by the application of NAA 500 and 1000 ppm respectively. The stem rootedplants and layers were also survived with 90% success rate. The propagation methods have been standardized in H. bourdillonii is new to the species and could be utilized for its multiplication further to establish clonal gene bank ex-si tu and subsequent management practices as part of the conservation of the species.
