摘要

The powdery mildew of chilli (Capsicum annuum), caused by L. taurica, is an obligate parasite and the possible mode of perpetuation of this pathogen is by conidia present on the host. A study conducted in Devihosur (Karnataka, India) during 2005-06 for the survival nature of the pathogen under different storage conditions indicated that the conidia survived for 83 days in infected leaflets under field or natural conditions and 136 days under freeze (4-5 degrees C) conditions. Germination of conidia was observed up to 92 days at room temperature (20-25 degrees C) and 104 days under tree shade (15-20 degrees C). The conidia of powdery mildew pathogen were short-lived on the host debris under natural conditions and the percentage viability of the conidia decreased with increase in storage period in all the conditions tested.
