Imagine that you are in the middle of a unit on DNA with your seventh-grade life science class, and you remember that your brother has a friend who has just earned a patent on modified mRNA (messenger RNA) technology. You secure a date and time for this friend to come speak to your class to show students how their newly acquired knowledge of DNA can allow them to do amazing things in the real world. Your students are in seventh grade, so you think that they have surely experienced guest speakers coming to their classes before. So, you simply tell them the speaker is coming and that you expect them to be respectful.
