Hedge fund Corvex Management LP on May 31 reported purchasing a 5.5% stake in Energen Corp. and called for the possible sale of the oil and gas producer. Energen's shares were up 3.1% at $57.38 in morning trading on May 31, giving it a market value of around $5.3 billion. The Birmingham, Ala.-based company has a large concentration of assets in the Permian Basin.
