摘要

When the Obama administration announced its BRAIN Initiative (Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neuro-technologies) in April, some speculated it was at least pardy spurred by a European project that beat the United States to the punch. Europe's Human Brain Project (HBR) was one of two projects selected in January 2013 as a European Commission Future and Emerging Technologies flagship. The prize was a cool one billion euros (about 1.3 billion USD) over ten years. To date, the US BRAIN Initiative has garnered a one-year commitment of $100 million.
