The May futures contract rose 1.8% to close in the low $2.70s per million Btu in reaction to a few bullish fundamentals that surfaced on Friday. Foremost, production has dipped from record highs, though it's likely a temporary drop related to maintenance and output could quickly recover, Gelber & Associates analyst Daniel Myers said. As for the weather, the current warm-up is expected to continue in the East Coast through the middle of next week. However, the 5- to 10-day forecast is calling for below-average temperatures to blanket the country.
