摘要

Boliden's 200ktpa Tara is Europe's largest zinc mine. The mine accounted for 43% of Boliden's zinc in concentrate production in 2017, providing an important feed source for Boliden's 315ktpa Kokkola and 200ktpa Odda smelters. The mine extracts a stratiform lead-zinc deposit. It has been operating since 1977. The site has moderate to high cash costs, due to a variable orebody that is mined using a variety of methods including cut-and-fill, open stoping and roomand-pillar. The variation in orebody geometry has been an ongoing issue at the site over the years as this has caused grade control issues. Underground ore handling distances and geotechnical support have been increasing. This adds to costs and/or slows production rates, requiring more ore sources to be on line at any one time. AME expects Tara to produce approximately 130ktpa of zinc in concentrate until 2026,which is the current limit of the tailings dam.
