Global zinc in concentrate supply is forecast to increase by 4.6% to 13.8Mt in 2018 driven by MMG’s 170ktpa DugaldRiver, Goldcorp’s 200ktpa Pe?asquito and Glencore’s 500ktpa Mount Isa/Lady Loretta. In 2019, concentrate supplygrowth will accelerate to 7.3% and total 14.8Mt due to New Century’s 270ktpa Century and Vedanta’s 250ktpa Gamsberg.While there are significant supply additions over 2018, the concentrate market will remain in deficit by 265kt. In 2019, themarket will move to a 200kt surplus. The rise in mine supply over 2018 and 2019 will stimulate refined zinc production.AME forecasts global finished zinc supply to increase by 6.4% to 14.5Mt in 2018. In 2019, finished zinc supply growth willease to 3.6% resulting in finished supply totalling 15.0Mt. Despite the additional supply, refined zinc deficits will persistover 2018 and 2019, 188kt and 117kt, respectively.
