Awards for research on Rett syndrome: towards a therapeutic breakthrough

The announcement of the Brain Prize on April 29, 2020, came in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has engulfed the world. The Chief Executive Officer of the Lundbeck Foundation (Copenhagen, Denmark), Lene Skole, spoke of this unexpected context, but emphasised the necessity of acknowledging transformational scientific breakthroughs and paying annual tribute to hard work, dedication, and brilliant ideas in brain science. A new and unknown award 10 years ago, the Brain Prize has progressed to now being a highly esteemed global prize that rewards outstanding, still-active brain scientists.
