Defense Bill Addresses Noise Mitigation, Orca Protection

Enacted into law last month over a presidential veto as Public Law No: 116-283, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 includes provisions dealing with military helicopter noise, noise restrictions on military installations, and measures to reduce ship noise in Puget Sound. It also allocates $5 million for mitigation of military aircraft noise and $175 million to reduce noise associated with FA-18 squadrons.
