This softcover book written by Don Danenberg and published by Motorbooks is in full color and reads extremely well. It is volume 2 in a series and covers restoring a lapstrake hull, such as an older Chris-Craft or other wooden boat. It details how to remove rotted or broken lapstrake planking, how to install new planks, and how to varnish or paint those planks to bring the boat back to its former glory. In addition, the book considers how to sand, varnish, or paint the finished work. It is one of the few books that I have seen that accurately describes how to roll-and-tip varnish or paint to get a beautiful result. It also advises that you practice applying varnish before actually working on the boat - a valuable tip that very few other books suggest.
